Computer Science Department

Mr. Paul Davidosn - Associate Director of TechnologyArchbishop Quigley is committed to preparing its students for the rapidly evolving age of technology and information. Students need the ability to organize, analyze, and think critically through the use of modem technology. In order to assist our students in acquiring this knowledge, Quigley has made a substantial investment in technology and operates two networked state-of-the-art computer labs.

Our library also has computers for students to use for research and accessing our on-line card catalog. Quigley also has computers in classrooms and science labs (Chemistry, Physics, and Biology). All student computers are connected to a Novell network  With over 85 computers available to students for their use, Quigley has an excellent student/computer ratio of nearly 2:1.   All computers are IBM compatible and the newest computers in the two Student Labs run Windows XP Pro and Office 2003 Professional.  The newest computers are AMD Athlon 64 3000+  with 512 MB of memory, 80 GB hard drives, and CD/DVD Burners.  All computers on the Network are able to connect to the Internet through our T1 line. Fr. Zi - Director of Technology

Quigley grants internet access to every student who fulfills the required stipulations. The computer system is used by all departments and every student has access to the computer lab. Various software writing tools are available to the student. Quigley also has a variety of CD-ROMs used for research. Academic programs are installed on the student computer system for Computer Science, English, Fine Arts, Foreign Language, Math, Religion, Social Studies, and Science.  Technology is used throughout the curriculum at Quigley, not just in Computer Science courses.

The computer labs are open for student use from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.   Freshmen are required to take one semester of Information Processing and Keyboarding (An Introduction to Computers). Juniors and Seniors are offered several elective courses: Advanced Placement Computer Science in Java, Programming in Visual BASIC, and Microcomputers, and Multimedia Authoring.

A dedicated group of students called the WEB masters meet regularly throughout the year to order to maintain and update Quigley's WEB page.
