English Department

    The English Department of Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary is committed to preparing its students to articulate in both speech and writing ideas that support the gospel message of Jesus Christ and to challenge scholarship that does not support His message.

    The English Department is further committed to preparing future priests and future Catholic leaders to be readers of depth - to seek the underlying truth of writing as inspired in the gospels or as expressed in other literatures.

The goals of the English Department are:

• to prepare students to meet the academic challenges and expectations of college;
• to develop outstanding reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in our students;
• to encourage the critical and leisurely appreciation of good literature; to encourage reading outside of school, especially during the summer months;
• to insist that students write and speak with unity, emphasis, and coherence; and, to inspire listening that is attentive and respectful.
