Quigley's chess team, The Chessnuts, have started the '05-'06 season with a BANG!!

        Their first match was an away game at St. Patrick High school. St. Patrick has been a challenging school in the past years, so the team had to play their best. The team came out swinging. There were no loses and only two draws, on boards 1 and 4. The team scored an impressive 57.5 point win, as well as winning three supplemental boards which don't get counted in the team score.

        Quigley's second match was against Luther South, which is also a very strong team. The match was postponed but this didn't affect the players one bit. When the match finally got played, Quigley played very complex games. The score of 62-6 may seem as though Quigley slaughtered them, but they were hard games.

        After those two matches, Quigley really got into 4th gear! In the next three matches, Quigley swept (68-0) De La Salle, St. Benedict, and Brother Rice.

        After three flawless victories, The Chessnuts suffered their first loss to the hands of St. Ignatius. The Chessnuts played hard, but they took their opponents too lightly. Quigley had wins on boards 2, 3, and 4, but that wasn't enough to secure the win. The final score was 30-38.

        In the 7th match of the season, Quigley hopped back onto the steamroller and beat Hales Franciscan 68-0. The match marked the half-way point of the season and the Chessnuts are sitting in the #1 spot of the conference.
