After graduating from Quigley South
in 1988, Jesús attended Niles College of Loyola University where he received a Bachelor
of Arts and Sciences Degree in 1992. He is
currently a candidate for a Masters in Pastoral Studies at Loyola University.From 1992-1993, Jesús was the Children's Program Coordinator at Family Rescue, a domestic violence agency. As a graduate student, he worked in Loyola University's Ministry Program, after which he was a case manager and mental health professional with United Services (Metropolitan Family Services). He continued his pastoral care work as a Regional Services Coordinator in the Friends First Mentoring Program at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, and as an Urban Youth Ministry Director for Holy Family in Waukegan at the Lake Shore Youth Center. Jesús is presently the Director of Pastoral Formation at St. Joseph College Seminary where he also works in alumni relations and Hispanic Ministry. He also coaches his favorite sport, soccer!
Civic organizations and his parish, St. Agnes of Bohemia, are also an important part of his life. He has taken on various leadership roles as a board member and vice-president of Centro Romero from 2003 to the present; a member and participant in the Maya Vinic Project Initiative (Jubilee Economic Ministry - Chiapas, Mexico) from 2001-2003; a member of the Loyola University Latino Alumni board (2001 to the present); a member of the Pastoral Council for the Office of Hispanic Ministry (2000 to the present); and a member and vice-president of the Coalition of Latinos United of Lake County (1997-2000). From 1996-1998, he served his elementary school, St. Michael (So. Chicago), as a School Board member.
As a Quigley alumnus, Jesús has participated in the annual alumni golf outing, attended the Distinguished Alumni Awards Dinner, and was on the Quigley fundraising committee in 1992.
