Rev. Peter graduated from St. Robert Bellarmine grammar school in 1977. He went on to William H.
Taft public high school and graduated in 1981. He then attended Northeastern Illinois University, earning a Bachelor's degree
in Secondary Education/Music in 1985. While at Northeastern Father Snieg was a member of the Concert Band, the Northeastern
Brass Ensemble and studied keyboards privately. Also while at Northeastern, he worked full time as a restaurant cook in the
evenings after school, and then managed a delicatessen for a local food store. He was privileged to be a student-teacher intern
at Glenbrook South High School where he taught Concert Band, Marching Band, Pep Band and general music classes. After college
he was hired by the Chicago Board of Education and taught briefly as a substitute teacher and then was placed as a full-time
music teacher/band director. In 1989, Father entered The University of St. Mary of the Lake to pursue his long-time dream of
becoming a priest. In 1992, he earned a Bachelor of Sacred Theology degree and in 1993 was ordained a priest and earned a Master
of Divinity degree. In 1994, while a resident at St. Martha's in Morton Grove, he completed the Licentiate in Sacred Theology.
From 1995 to 1998 he taught religion while recruiting part-time at Archbishop Quigley. In June of 1998, he became Dean of Formations,
and in June of 1999, he was appointed Rector of Quigley by Cardinal George. |
