HyperStudio Multimedia

Mr. Paul Davidson

Create interactive presentations using the authoring software HyperStudio. Learn how to create graphics, text boxes, animations, and sound effects. The final project will be to produce an original cartoon.

Image Editing

Mr. Paul Davidson

Learn how to put pictures into the computer, using scanning, digital photography, and the Internet. Then edit the pictures, creating special effects and entirely new images from parts of the originals.

PowerPoint Presentations

Mr. Paul Davidson

Create exciting multimedia presentations using MS PowerPoint software. Learn how to plan your presentation and include text, pictures, clipart, music, sound effects, and animation to create a professional looking presentation.se04-2.jpg (21651 bytes)

Web Site Creation

Students will learn how to format a text on a WEB page, import graphics, create navigational buttons, make links to other sites, and arrange items in tables. Upon completion, students will upload their pages onto the Internet. No knowledge of HTML is expected.

Learn a variety of painting /drawing techniques: line, texture, shape, volume, and color. Step by step lessons on drawing will be taught on designing your favorite comic book or cartoon character using pencil, charcoal, or pastel.

So you want to be a rock star? Start with the basic chords, add inspiration, and you may be on your way! Learn to read music and chords, how to strum and play popular songs.

Learn how to make what you crave. This class will teach safe food handling practices and how to follow recipes to make the foods you like to eat. Students will have the opportunity to then eat their culinary delights.

Radio Broadcasting

Do you think it would be cool to be a DJ? What would you say if you were on the radio? Learn the skills of being a radio DJ and then do your own show.

Journalism – The Summer Scoop

How do the stories get into the newspaper everyday? What does a journalist do to get a story? How many people does it take to put together a newspaper? You will be an integral part of piecing together a newspaper that will supply the news of Quigley’s Summer Enrichment Program.

SCIENCE

What makes you or other things tick? Students will learn some of the fundamental facts about what makes something alive, and what is needed to stay alive. Course will include use of microscope, observation of microorganisms, and computer interface technology.

Engineering-Bridge Building

Why do bridges stand up? How many types of bridges are there? Find the answers to these and many more questions about bridges. We will also design and build our own bridges (out of wood). Who will have the best bridge?

Model Airplanes

Mr. David Glonek

Make a wooden aircraft that flies.   Construct the wooden skeleton of a real flying aircraft as you build the wings, body, stabilizers and tail.  Complete the model by adding a tissue skin to the craft ...up, up and away it goes!

Physical Science

The focus will be on the physical science area of natural sciences. Students will perform some basic chemistry and physics experiments in Quigley's Chemistry Laboratory. Skills in observation and lab techniques will be explored.

LIFE

You Da Man

This enrichment course will assist you with growing up and making good decisions.  It will help you to identify and deal with negative and positive peer pressure.  Learn about teamwork through simple and fun exercises.

SPORTS

Basketball Clinic

Both individual development and team playing will be emphasized. Athletes will participate in drills to improve their shooting, dribbling, and defense. Athletes will have the opportunity to apply these new or improved skills in "real game" situations.

Floor Hockey

Learn and develop good talent in the following skills: puck handling, passing, shooting, and defense. Practices and games will occur.

Weightlifting and Lifetime Fitness

Learn the fundamentals of weight training and fitness, participating in a weight program that you design. Some of what you hear about weight training and fitness is mythical – some of it is factual; learn which is which. Find out how fun it is to develop a successful strengthening program.

Swimming

Whether you can swim or not, you will learn breathing, floating, balance, and efficiency techniques while having fun! Beginners can learn swimming skills while novices can improve what they know and then some!

Soccer/Arena Football

Learn the techniques of passing, defending and scoring for soccer /football through drills, practice, and games. The class will feature soccer during the first week and football during the second.
