48 6th and 7th grade boys in this year's Academic Challenge.  Each team consisted of 4 students.

Round 1 was a 15 minute written exam which all partcipants took at the same time.  The written exam, different for each grade, consisted of 25 questions worth 50 points.  In Round 2, teams were randomly selected to appear on the auditorium stage together at one time.  Seven questions were read by Fr. Zi, the Master of Ceremonies, with the teams having 10 seconds to write down and hold up their answer.  Each question was worth 5 points, for a total of 35 points.

Scores from Round 1 and Round 2 were totaled to determine the top four teams from each grade.  These finalists advanced into Round 3, the Lightening Round.  For Round 3, no points were carried over from t he previous rounds.  A total of 15 questions were read.  As each question was read out load by the Master of Ceremonies, the first team to light up the "buzzer" light became the team to verbally give the answer.  5 points were awarded for a correct answer, but 2 points were deducted for an incorrect answer.

The questions used in competition were submitted by the participating schools, in 5 different areas: Religion, Math-Science, Geography-History, Literature, and Current Events.  All participants received a certificate.   Teammates on the top four teams on each level received a Medellion.  Their elementary school was also presented with a Plaque.
