With the weather cooperating in wonderful fashion, the combined Quigley/St. Scholastica Walk on May 6 went beautifully. After a prayer service in the St. James Chapel and instructions about the walk, the group made its way along Rush/North State to the Cardinal's residence to receive a blessing from Bishop Basil Meeking. The group then walked along the lakefront to Belmont to arrive at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Rectory lawn for a picnic lunch.

Father Peter Snieg, rector of Quigley who resides at OLMC, was host and cook of the hot dogs that were served. After relaxing on the lawn 200 of the walkers and their teachers attended the Cubs game against Philadelphia which started at 2:20. The only discordant note of the day was the loss of the game by the Cubs whose bullpen wasted a late inning lead.  The students raised over $3,000 for the tsunami victims. The day was such a success that both schools are considering a repeat of the event in the next school year.
