The Cross Country running program has had great success since the founding of Archbishop Quigley in 1990.  Runners train to run two miles on the Frosh/Soph level and three miles on the Varsity level.  The season begins the 3rd week of August and concludes with the State Meet, usually the first Saturday in November.  While there are no tryouts, runners are expect to be committed to training.  The team competes in a variety of Invitationals, running against both division A and AA teams.  The Quigley team hosts two weekday meets and the Annual Phoenix Invitational on the last Saturday in September.  The Phoenix Invitational is one of the largest CC Invitationals in Chicago, featuring 40 teams and over 600 runners.  The team's home course is located in Lincoln Park, one mile north of the school.

Roger Pinon State Finalist 2004The Cross Country team has held the honor of Chicago Prep Conference Champions from 1991 through 1997.  Having lost the Conference Title in 1998, the Cross Country team recaptured the Conference Title in the Fall of 1999.  The team was the State Regional Champions for the Chicago area in 1993, 1994, and 1995.  The Cross Country team is the only Quigley team to bring home a Regional Championship.  The team has also advanced to the State Finals.  In 1993, the team finished 18th in the State for Class A Cross Country, in 1994, the team finished 15th in the State, and in 1995, the team placed 14th in the State.  In 1997, Nathaniel Shober was the first CC runner to go All-State, finishing 17th at the State Finals with a time of 15:38, the current 3 mile record for Quigley.

The Cross Country Team most recently has been Conference Champs for 2002, 2003, and 2004.  In 2003, Quigley Alumni Runner and State Qualfier, Phil Spence, took over as head coach, assisted by Mike Loch.  In 2003, the team once again made a return visit to the State Finals in Peoria.  Senior Kyle Bingham and Freshmen Roger Pinon both qualified for State.  In 2004, Roger Pinon repeated his state qualifying performance.  At the State Class A Finals, out of 209 runners, Roger finished in 90th place.  He was the 12th fastest sophomore runner in the state.
