Roger Pinon - All State for CC
Junior Roger Pinon ran in the IHSA State Cross Country Finals on Saturday, November 5, at Peoria, Detweiller Park. Running his best race ever, Roger finished 20th out of 210 of the best Class A runners in the state. The first 25 finishers are awarded All State Medals. Roger's time of 15:30 for the 3 mile (5:10 per mile) sets a new school record. The old record of 15:38 was set by fellow Cross Country All-Stater Nathaniel Shober back in 1997. Nathaniel was there to cheer Roger on and was happy for Roger to see his record fall.
Roger qualified for the State Finals by finishing 1st at State Sectionals at Lisle on Saturday, October 29. Roger took the early lead and never looked back. Roger's 1st place finish at Sectionals was the first time any Archbishop Quigley athlete took first place in State Sectional Competition.
Roger advanced to the State Sectionals by taking first in the U-High Chicago area State Regionals. His time of 15:45 for the 3 mile was his best time until State Finals.
