The Track and Field program was founded in 1990.  Athletes in Track events can train to compete in races, such as: sprints (100 and 400 meter), middle distance (800 meter), long distance (1600 and 3200 meter), or relay races.  Athletes in Field train to compete in long jump, shot put, and discus.  Teams compete in both Class A and Class AA divisions.  The team runs indoor in February and March, and outdoor in April and May.  The team practices at the Lake Shore park track, two blocks east of Quigley.2002 Track & Field Team with Conference Trophy

The team has had great success on the State Finals Level.  In 1999, senior Victor Garcia finished 3rd in the State in the 800 meter run, with a school record time of 1:56.57.  Also in 1999, the 3200 meter relay team (Tito Gonzalez, Teddy Chavez, John Bolanos, HH01733_.wmf (6136 bytes)and Tom Streff) finished 29th in the State. Their Sectional qualifying time of 8:29 set a new school record.  This was the first time a relay team ever qualified for the State Finals.  In 1999, the Track Team was Conference Champs at the meet held at Rockne Stadium.  In 1998, senior Nathaniel Shober finished 5th in the State in the 3200 meter run.  In 1996, Willie Bolanos finished 3rd in the State in the 3200 meter run with a school record of 9:40.07, and 6th in the State in the 1600 meter run with a school record of 4:27.11.

For the Spring 2000 Season, the Track and Field team earned the title of Chicago Prep Conference Champs.  During the season, team records were set in the 110 High Hurdles, 100 meter dash, and 800 meter relay.  In the 2001 Season, the team successfully defended its title as Conference Champs.  Quigley, running with St. Scholastica, also took 1st in the Luther North Coed Relays.  A number of old records fell during 2001, including: Long Jump, 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, and 3200 meter relay.
