Bradley Zamora ('06)

Brad Zamora is currently a senior at Archbishop Quigley Prepatory Seminary. He enjoys his time at Quigley because of the family-like relationships. Quigley helped cultivate his gifts of music and love for God into something he can share with everyone.

Brad is a big help on Quigley's musical side by playing the organ for Quigley masses and participating in Quigley plays. Music is his life (he loves it) and by sharing his talents he gives back to Quigley for helping shape who he is today.

Brad is also a sacristan not only at Quigley, but at Holy Name Cathedral too. He became a sacristan freshmen year at Quigley when Father Jakubik asked Brad to join. Brad's first mass as a sacristan at Quigley was the last mass of the school year during freshmen year.

Brad was offered the job as sacristan by Quigley alumnus, Derrick Witherington. Although Brad prefers being a sacristan at Quigley because of the more relaxed environment because he doesn't have to oversee all the other sacristans which is Father Kalchik's job.

Brad first became interested in playing the piano because his mother played when she was a child. He would bang on his mother's old keyboard at his grandmother's house. In the fourth grade the Music Director at his church, Eva Mrgan, gave Brad lessons, but he could only take five lessons because of baseball season starting. During on of his first piano lessons, Eva's cat jumped onto his lap while he was playing and settled in. After his lessonsended, he taught himself how to use his left hand on the piano and expanded his gift. He has been playing for ten years now.

At Quigley during his freshman year, Brad took an interest in the organ and asked Mr. Krumwiede, Director of Music/Theatre at Quigley, if he could practice on the organ in St. James Chapel. Brad taught himself how to play the organ after seeing others play. Four years later, he has a pretty good grasp of it. Brad often plays the organ during Mass at Quigley.

One of the great things about Quigley Brad loves are the yearly retreats. They are fun, spiritual, and enlightening. He enjoyed his senior retreat the most. During the senior retreat, everyone told stories about personal or family experiences of death, new life, and forgiveness. It was a very emotional time and Brad will always be thankful for and never forget how that day showed that his classmates were not only classmates, but brothers in Christ.

Brad's inspirations for playing are Eva and Mr. Krumwiede. Eva first taught Brad to play the piano, and one 8th grade confirmation Eva left early so Brad had to play the closing song. Mr. Krumwiede, his Quigley music teacher, gave Brad the opportunity to try the organ and helped expand Brad's gifts as a vocalist.

Today, Brad is the Director of Music/Organist at Good Shepard Parish in the Little Village neighborhood. Brad plans to enter college to get degrees in music and education. He would love to be able to play music and at the same time teach others to play. Brad is currently working on his own song about his graduation class, and he hopes with God's help, it'll be done in time for graduation.
