Liaugminas ('02) Named a Top 10 Academic Scholar
by Chicago Tribune

liaugminas.jpg (161496 bytes)Every year in May, the Chicago Tribune selects top students in the state of Illinois to be named to the annual Chicago Tribune High School Academic Team. On May 5th, 2002, the Chicago Tribune named Quigley Senior Andrew Liaugminas (class of 2002) as one of the top 10 students in the Chicago region, and as a Regional Winner in the Chicago Tribune Academic Team.

Over 400 valedictorians in the state of Illinois applied for this recognition, and only 60 valedictorians were recognized for their academic achievement. Selection to the team was based upon academic achievement, community service, leadership positions, school involvement, and achievement outside of school. Only ten students in each region were named for this recognition and Andrew was one of only 10 in Chicago.

This speaks to Quigley's high academic standards, since only ten schools in Chicago had students in this category. Quigley beat out many private and public schools for this recognition.

Way to go, Andrew!!
